Beechcraft PU Moulding and Designs standard PU Moulding System is S1140/11, a heavily flame retarded Rigid Polyurethane Foam System suitable for medium to high density PU mouldings.
This moulding material is recognised as complying with the UL94 requirements and is rated V/0 and has a reference E173211.
This moulding material is CFC-free and has an ozone depletion potential (OPD) of zero.
PU Mouldings are generally supplied painted in Trimite Plastilac 2 pack PU enamels - in any colour - and usually with a spatter type finish. Other finishes and paints can be applied as required.
EMC coating can easily be applied on to well-prepared internal surfaces. Usually a nickel/acrylic coating will provide sufficient protection - down to a resistivity of around 5 ohms square. Other moulding materials such as a silver/gold coating can be applied which will provide a much higher level of EMC protection.
Moulding-in threaded brass inserts is always preferable - an M4 insert will provide 140lbs pull-strength when moulded in with 3mm material around the insert. This equates to a typical 12mm diameter boss for an M3 or M4 insert. Tappex Yardley Type C inserts are our preferred choice but shorter or through inserts can also be used.
Both Beechcraft PU moulding material and Paint suppliers can provide guidance notes confirming that their materials comply with these regulations and certify that the material we use is free from the following chemicals:
